Opening the original Irene’s Bar in Houjie in March 2011, we relocated to new premises in January 2017, 200 m away on the same street, near the Sheraton Hotel.
We’re still the friendliest bar in Houjie to meet people, savour an ice-cold beer, watch sport, or listen to the best rock, blues, funk and soul around.
You’ll enjoy the laid-back atmosphere, super-clean western facilities, and friendly service from Irene, the staff, and her NZ husband, Marcus.
Be sure to watch the event board for monthly updates on special activities happening at the bar, including live music.
Irene’s Bar is open from 4.30 pm til 1am, 7 days a week.
We accept foreign Mastercard's, Visa, and American Express, plus WeChat Pay, AliPay, and cash.

Rugby Union and NRL football feature heavily at Irene’s Bar from March-November.
We also have English Premier League, AFL, F1, Moto GP, NFL, NBA, Tennis, Golf, Baseball, and other major sports available as well.
Basically we’ll accommodate most viewing requests if we can.

Irene’s Bar offers a small but delicious menu of home-made NZ, US, Mexican & Chinese food.
Fantastic burgers, sandwiches, and hotdogs. Signature chicken fajita's, quesadilla's, burrito's, chili, and the best fried fried rice and dumplings in town. Plus proper Kiwi-style steak meals, fish and chips, and other delicious foods.
Special meal-deals are also often available to support weekly events. Brazilian BBQ, Guinness Stew, and Cottage Pie, to name a few!
